Gluten free wedding in Naples – Sposarsi a Napoli

Gluten free wedding in Naples – Sposarsi a Napoli

I’ve never come back to Naples so often like this year…here we are, one more time in town! For a special wedding, this time. Why was it so special? Because of the place…Santa Chiara’s Basilica and monastery. Simply fabulous. Unfortunately, it was a rainy day. And a rainy day in Naples often means flooded streets and a paralysed city (as well as Rome, by the way). Anyway, we reached the city centre on time, and we got in the church taking seat before the bride came in. After the religious ceremony, we got in the backyard of the church for the banquet right in the Monastery. This place is fantastic, with its garden’s cloister fully decorated by coloured majolicas…wonderful. Dining in the ancient refectory, we were surrounded by ancient walls and paintings. The banquet was provided by Le Arcate, and I had a gluten free menu. Two main first courses, pasta and rice. I really liked the pumpkin flowers risotto, naturally gluten free (so I had the same dish as the others). The pasta was made with mussels and clams, and it was different from the other guests’ dish. With lots of basil, loved it! This post is dedicated to Lisa, a friend of mine who has just started her new family life. Congratulations!

Gluten free Neapolitan Pastiera I wouldn’t open a new section in my blog with a recipe from a different place. It’s originally made in Naples…and so am I 🙂 Thanks to my aunt Eliana to write me down and cook this super-tasty gluten free cake! Ingredients Short crust pastry: 200 gr. gluten free flour 100 gr. sugar 100 gr. butter 1 egg 1 vanillin bag Knead quickly and put it in the fridge to keep the dough resting. Late Christmas in Naples – Natale in differita

Late Christmas in Naples – Natale in differita

By on Jan 13, 2014 in Napoli, Travel journal | 0 comments

Since I spent last Christmas in NYC, I had my family Christmastime last weekend in Naples. As Neapolitan tradition require, I spent he whole time from having a lunch to a dinner. Sorry no pictures to mention the homemade gluten free food made by my family, but let me give you just a tip about a special place: Siani. This is a gluten free bakery perfect from the daily bread to Sunday cakes. Delicious pastry…the best “cassatina” ever tasted! Ok, Maybe I should tell you before I come from Naples. Which can easily explain my love for pizza & food and my difficulties to give you a touristic point of view of the city… ☺️ Weekend’s soundtrack: Sway – Michael Buble...
